I found these old turn of the century wedding photos especially fascinating, especially the girl in the black wedding dress that looks quite corseted. I wish I knew more about turn of the century fashions, because I am guessing that the black would be from the 1890s and the white dresses from more about 1910s? [...]
I found these slides, of the same couple as the last, in a box labeled “August 9 – 45″, so presumably from 1945 … it looks like they attended a wedding and snapped some family photos, or maybe the wedding picture is just accidentally mixed in. You can see the hat and dress styles of [...]
I found these 1940s soldier slides mixed in with the 1950s slides. Here’s a picture of the WWII soldier, in uniform, with his wife who looks totally thrilled and happy.
I can imagine this World War 2 era couple having a nice week or two of bliss together, perhaps they got married while he was on leave, and taking a break to go swimming in the hot summer weather of wherever they were at. Maybe it was July when these pictures were taken in 1944!
These slide scans are of the same husband and wife from the old kodaslides dated 1944. They look like a very happy couple, don’t you think?
I imagine this couple getting this car as a gift, or the husband giving it to his wife before he leaves back to fighting overseas. Admittedly, history wasn’t my strongest subject. Below are the slides I scanned:
