Product Description
Here is a red cotton dress that I believe is from the 1930s. It has a smart tie at the neck, metal zipper up the side, and is made for busty curvy bigger gals with broad shoulders.
The petite mannequin does this dress no justice. It is classic!
I determined that it was hand made by turning it inside out, and notice the hand basting at the seams, and the hand stiches hemming up the sleeves.
This vintage dress could be from as early as the Depression or early 30s, because the darted pleats in the skirt don’t start til slightly below the waistline, possibly indicating fashion’s return to the natural waist.
The only flaw I found were 2 holes on the left front bust and some dirt. This dress was previously stored badly in a warehouse and I’ve not tried washing or ironining it. The holes could probably be disguised and covered up with a corsage, patch, or just sewn up.
Measurements (measured flat) are:
- 46 inches total length as measured from the top of the shoulders
- 36 inch waist
