More about this Item

If you need to channel “Main Character Energy” at your next holiday party, this is the vest for you. Sourced from the estate of a scientist, this piece represents the later years of her wardrobe, likely acquired during her travels in the 90s or early 2000s.

It is a traditional Tang Suit style vest in a deep, regal purple hue, heavily embroidered with metallic gold threads. The pattern features the five-clawed dragon—a symbol of power and good fortune—swirling among clouds.

The tailoring is sharp and structured. It features a Mandarin-style V-neck, traditional knotted frog button closures, and a fully lined interior. Because it is sleeveless, it is the ultimate layering piece. Throw it over a black turtleneck and jeans for a casual look, or wear it over a slip dress for an evening out.

Condition: Excellent Vintage Condition. The metallic threads are bright and intact. The lining is clean. The frog buttons are tight and secure.

Sizing & Fit: Marked size is not visible, but based on measurements, this fits like a modern Small to Medium (US 4-6). It is meant to have a structured, slightly boxy fit.

  • Length, shoulder to hem: approx. 30in

  • Shoulder to shoulder: approx. 15 in

  • Bust (pit to pit): approx. 38 in around

  • Waist: approx. 38 in around

  • Hip/hem: approx. 44 in around

Style Notes: This creates an instant “waist” when worn open, or a sleek column when buttoned up. The purple is deep enough to act as a neutral, while the gold brings the festive sparkle.
