More about this Item

If this dress could talk, it would probably order a milkshake and put a dime in the jukebox. This is a genuine 1950s shirtwaist dress that captures the playful, feminine spirit of the mid-century beautifully.

The design is timeless: a deep navy blue bodice scattered with crisp white polka dots, framed by a dramatic, pointed white “wing” collar that frames the face perfectly. It features long sleeves with button cuffs and a bodice that buttons up the front with original plastic buttons.

But the real magic is in the construction. It closes with a discreet side metal zipper (the hallmark of true 50s vintage). The skirt is cut full and swingy, and it even has a small built-in structural layer (a mini-crinoline tier) sewn inside to help it hold that flared shape. It is fully lined through the body (sleeves are unlined), giving it a quality weight.

Condition Report: Good / Fair Vintage Condition (Wearable with Character). This dress has been loved and worn for pinup shoots (by the shop owner herself!), and it shows some cosmetic signs of a life well-lived.

  • The Collar: There is yellowing/discoloration on the white collar, likely makeup transfer. It blends in from a distance but is visible up close.

  • The Fabric: There is a small hole in the exterior skirt overlay (see photos) and a small hole in the interior lining. Neither is very noticeable when worn due to the fullness of the skirt and the dark print.

  • The Belt: The original belt is missing; we are including a white grosgrain ribbon sash that mimics the look perfectly.

  • Overall: Sturdy, wearable, and full of charm despite the flaws.
