More about this Item

Sail into style with this fabulous vintage top that absolutely embodies the leisure and sporty vibe of the late 1960s and early 1970s! This bright, deep Royal Blue shirt is made from a stretchy, vertically-ribbed synthetic knit, giving it great texture and a fantastic, figure-flattering fit.

This vintage navy blue top looks like it sailed straight out of a late-1960s seaside boardwalk. The fabric is a stretchy rib knit in a rich navy, trimmed with crisp red-and-white stripes at the scoop neckline and sleeve cuffs. On one sleeve there is a small embroidered anchor and lifesaver patch, just in case anyone missed that this is a very proud nautical piece.

There is no fabric or brand label, but the Talon nylon zipper up the back and the overall construction strongly suggest late 1960s to early 1970s. The knit has a nice amount of stretch without feeling flimsy, and the cut is slim through the body with a slightly longer length that works tucked into high-rise jeans, shorts, or sailor pants.

I have gone over this carefully and do not see any flaws beyond normal light wear to a vintage knit. No holes, snags, or obvious stains. Freshly inspected and ready to wear.

Because vintage sizing is all over the place, please go by the measurements rather than the “size it looks like” on the hanger. I would estimate this as best for a modern small to medium depending on how fitted you like your tops, especially if you want it close to the body for that true mod look.

Dating Clues:
While this top is tagless (common for the era), the high-quality TALON zipper running down the back confirms its authentic mid-century vintage heritage. This piece is perfect styled with white wide-leg trousers, flared jeans, or a tennis skirt.

Condition: Excellent Vintage Condition. This top shows no significant flaws, stains, or damage. The color remains vibrant, and the zipper is fully functional.

Measurements (Laid Flat and Doubled – Knit has Stretch!):

  •  Length (Shoulder to Hem): approx 21.5 inches
  • Chest (Pit to Pit, Doubled): approx 36 inches (Stretches to approx 38 inches)
  • Waist (Doubled): approx 33 inches
  • Hem Opening (Doubled): approx 39 inches
  • Estimated Modern Size: Medium (M)

Please allow for a small amount of measurement variance and remember there is some comfortable stretch in the knit.

Suggested styling: Pair with white jeans, high-waisted shorts, or a denim mini skirt for an easy “vintage yacht club” moment. It would also be adorable layered under overalls with the stripes peeking out at the neckline and sleeves.
