More about this Item
This is one of those pieces I have quietly hauled through multiple moves for over a decade.
Offered here is an original early-1990s Tesla “Local Psychotic” tour crew T-shirt, printed on a black Giant 100% cotton heavyweight tee and made in the U.S.A. This design features Nikola Tesla’s electric blue portrait, the classic TESLA globe logo, and the hand-lettered “local psychotic” script – artwork attributed to Pushead from the Psychotic Supper era. Shirts like this were issued to local crew and stagehands, not sold at the merch table, which makes surviving examples extremely hard to find.
Provenance: this came directly from a St. Louis stagehand who worked local crew for touring bands in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He cleared out his drawers in the early 2010s and passed his work shirts along instead of tossing them. I recently gave the whole stack a careful bath: a long OxiClean soak, flat air-dry with fans, and a no-heat tumble to lift dust and stubborn grime. Since then it has been stored folded in acid-free tissue inside a sealed plastic tote with desiccant (not touching the fabric).
Please note the well-earned wear:
Allover charcoal fade and soft fuzzing from many washes and decades of wear.
Small hole and nibbling near the front hem and some wear along the hem seam (see close-up photos).
Tiny pinhole on the care tag and general broken-in collar and sleeve edges.
There may be a few faint marks or specks I missed; nothing that affects the graphic or structure.
Despite the flaws, the fabric still feels strong and very wearable, with that perfect vintage drape. The front chest print is nicely cracked and softened but fully legible.
Approximate measurements (taken flat, measured to the nearest half-inch – please compare with your favorite tee):
Chest, pit to pit: approx 19 in (about 38 in around)
Length, shoulder to hem: approx 26 in
Shoulder to shoulder: approx 18 in
Tagged size: L – fits more like a modern Small / trim Medium depending on desired fit.
This listing is for collectors who love true tour history and crew-only graphics, not modern reprints. I would rather keep this Tesla relic than underprice it, so serious offers only, please. Feel free to message me if you need additional photos or have questions – I want you to feel confident that this is the right shirt for your collection.
