The story of the opera shown at the St. Louis MUNY:
“The play opens at Ebeseder’s Pastry Shop on the Ringstrasse at Alt Wien. All the Vienna social world meets there. Greta, the hostess. greets her nephew, Poldi, who has
returned from the wars to continue his courtship of Ebeseder’s charming and attractive daughter, Therese (known also as Resi). But Resi’s heart has already gone out to another, to a youthful composer, Johann Strauss Jr, who calls at her house twice a week to give her music lessons, but whose musicianly…”
